UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw position the lever and key hole dimensions. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a contemporary door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This type door handle is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of sturdy materials and are perfect for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily mounted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit more locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further away from the door. A lever that is shorter is a good choice for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are generally used on UPVC double glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.
All UPVC levers for handles come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a wider size of handle which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which eliminate the issue of handles for doors that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.
It is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

When you have the right PZ size you will then have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. These are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a home. It is also the case that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are swivel, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder case that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allowing them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with external and internal doors generally having different levels of security.
Choosing the right cylinder is vitally important; this is contingent on how your door and handle are used. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can improve security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. If window handles cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is crucial to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.
The majority of modern cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a different direction. This helps stop the attack and ensure your doors are secure.
Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is much quicker and more straightforward than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a break-in which could hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they tend to droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position since they are difficult to close manually.
These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that are not sprung and you'll have to cut a hole in your backplate for them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the backplate of the door handle for many brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are available in a variety of.
These spring cassettes are a fantastic cost-effective solution to the issue of door handles that are that are sagging. These spring cassettes are easy to install and can extend the lifespan of your uPVC door.
